Given:-

  • A seller proposes to sell his goods at the Cost Price but uses a fake mass of 960 gm for 1 kg.

_______________

Need to find:-

  • Gain percentage = ?

_______________

Solution:-

☯ Let the Cost price of 1 kg be ₹100

  • As he proposes to sell the product at Cost price his selling price for 1 kg is 100

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

[ Refer to the attachment ]

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

 \implies \sf \dfrac{1000}{960} \:  = \dfrac{100}{x}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

 \implies \sf x = \dfrac{100 \times 960}{1000} \:  = \dfrac{100}{x}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

 \implies \large\boxed{\frak{\pink{x = 96}}}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • By substituting the values, we got the value Cost price as 96.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

* C.P. = ₹96 and S.P = ₹100

→ Gain = S.P. - C.P.

→ Gain = 100 - 96

Gain = 4

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We know that,

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

 \large\boxed{\sf{\red{Gain \% =  \dfrac{Gain}{C.P.} \times 100}}}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Putting the values,

 \implies \sf \dfrac{4}{96} \times 100

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

 \implies \sf \dfrac{25}{6}\ \%

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

 \implies \large\boxed{ \frak{ \purple{ 4 \:  \frac{1}{6}  \: \%}}}

Hence,

  • The Gain % is  \bf \: 4 \:  \dfrac{1}{6} \:  \%
