Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

The selling price of chairs = $1296

The profit percentage = 8%

The loss percentage = 5%

To Find:

The selling price of chair at loss percentage

Solution:

let the selling price = S.P

Let The cost price= C.P

∵ profit percentage =  SP- CP/CP× 100

                                    = 8% = 1296- CP/CP

                                = 0.08 = 1296/ CP -1

                               =  1296/CP = 1+0.08

                               =  1296/ CP = 1.08

                              =  CP = 1296/ 1.08

                              =  1200 rupees

i.e Cost price of chair = C.P = $ 1200

Again

Let the new selling price of chair at loss percentage = SP

∵  Loss percentage = CP -SP / SP  × 100

5% = 1 -  SP

0.05 = 1 -  SP/1200

SP/1200 = 1 - 0.05

 SP/1200  = 0.95

i.e, SP = 0.95 × 1200

 SP = 1140  rupees

Hence, The selling price of chair at its loss percentage is 1140 rupees.
