x + 5x/100 = 4620
x = (4620*20)/21
= 220*20
= 4400

His profit percentage =5%
On rs =4620
Therefore his profit in percentage = 5/100*4620
=Rs231

shannosoni77gmailcom: bt ans is 220rs
bishista: Hi.. If by the question it meant that the profit in the initial amount than it is rs 220.
bishista: By using the equation x+5x/100=4620 we get x as 4400. And if we need to get 5% in 4400 then the answer by 5/100*4400=220 that is their initial profit in initial amount. hope it helps.
bishista: And x is the initial amount i.e 4400
