If a show formatted with a 4:3 aspect ratio is viewed on a 16:9 screen, the picture will fill the screen vertically, but bars will appear on either side of the picture. (If bars do not appear, the image will be "stretched horizontally.") What portion of a 16:9 monitor is filled by a 4:3 picture?

Answer:

75 %  portion is filled

Step-by-step explanation:

4:3 aspect ratio

=> Horizontally 4   & Vertically 3

in vertically screen is to be filled at 16 : 9

=> Horizontally 12  & Vertically 9

Hence Bar will appear on picture

12 : 9   is filled instead of 16 : 9

Portion filled = 12 * 9 / (16 * 9)  = 3/4

= 75 %  portion is filled
