if a stone is thrown up it falls down on the earth .but an artificial satelite doesnot fall down on earth .why?

stone falls due to gravitational force exerted by the earths gravitation but the satellite is generally in outer space were there is no gravitational force

The artifical satellite does not fall down to earth because satellite is in a weak contact of gravity and it is moving is circular manner and not going inside earth atmosphere
