Now in order to meet line BE and DF, we need to form a triangle 

Now if we consider line AB and CD it won't meet since

base angles sum is greater than 180...(x+y=120....given) 

So, it will intersect only on AE and CF side

Since base angles x+y=120 less than 180

The two straight lines, if produced indefinitely meet on the side on

which the sum of angles is less than or equal to 120°....
