If a student cycles to school at the speed of 4 km/hr, then he gets late by 15 minutes. If he
cycles at the speed of 6 km/hr, then he is 5 minutes early. What is the distance to school ?
What should be his speed if he wants to reach the school just in time ?

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the distance be x km.

Time= Distance

Speed

T1= x

4

T2 = x

6

Let the time he needs to arrive is t n the first case

T= T1 - 15

60

In second case,

T= T2 + 5

60

=> x/6 + 5/60 = x/4 - 15/60

=> 20/60 = x/4 - x/6

=> 1/3 = x/12

=> x=4 km
