Let the no of years be x

According to the question:

2400*(1/5)x=3240

x=(3240*5)/2400 years

x=(16200)/2400 years

x=(162/24)

x=27/4 years

x=6.75 year

.75 years into months

=.75*12

=9 months

therefore answer is

6 years and 9 months...

prernamalla8: I am sorry but the answer is 1 year 9 months
prernamalla8: Can you please clarify why did you multiplied 2400 by (1/5)x
vaibhav6853: because the sum is increasing by 1/5 every year and i've assumed no. of years to be x
vaibhav6853: let me try once again.
vaibhav6853: You can use the formula time (t)=(1/r){(Amount/Principal)-1}. where amount=3240, principal=2400 ,rate=1/5
vaibhav6853: by solving u'll get. t =1.75years then convert .75 years into months by multiplying it by 12 u 'll get 9 months..... so ur final answer would be 1 year and 9 months
vaibhav6853: i hope ,u r now satisfied with my answer....
prernamalla8: Oh thank you

Answer:

1 year 9 months

Step-by-step explanation:

p = 2400

A = 3240

since it is growing 1/5 every year it mean it is growing

1/5 of 2400 = 480

in 1 year it will reach to 2400+480= 2880

As shown above it is growing 480 in a year so it is growing 480/12 = 40 in a month.

3240-2880= 360

and if 360/40 = 9

Hence it will take 1 year and 9 months.
