If a supermarket has L items, the number of possible itemsets is 2L-1 .

  • The mechanism is like we either choose the first item, or the second one, or the third one , or the fourth one, or the fifth one and it goes on till the last item that is L.
  • If the mechanism goes on like this then the total no of itemset would be 2L eliminating the Empty set which would eventually give the value 2L -1.
