Given :-

  • Final velocity (v) = 6 ms-¹
  • Acceleration (a) = -0.2 ms-²
  • Time (t) = 4 sec

To Find :-

  • Initial velocity of the train.

Solution :-

Applying 1st eqn of motion,

v = u + at

Where,

  • v = Final velocity
  • u = Initial velocity
  • a = Acceleration
  • t = Time

[ Put the values ]

\longrightarrow 6 = u + -0.2 × 4

\longrightarrow 6 = u - 0.8

\longrightarrow -u = -6 - 0.8

\longrightarrow -u = -6.8

\green\longrightarrow u = 6.8 ms-¹

Hence,

  • The initial velocity of the train is 6.8 ms-¹.

For information:

  • S = ut + 1/2 at²
  • v² = u² + 2as
