If a train runs at 40 kmph it reaches its destination late by 11 minutes . But if it runs at 50 kmph it is late by 5 minutes only. Find the distance to be covered by the train.

Let the distance be x km.
According to the question,
 \frac{x}{40}- \frac{11}{60}=   \frac{x}{50}- \frac{5}{60}
\frac{600*x}{40} - \frac{11*600}{60}= \frac{x*600}{50}-\frac{5*600}{50}
15x-110=12x-50
15x-12x=110-50
3x=60
x= \frac{60}{3}=20
Ans:The train must cover 20 km.
