Let the distance covered by the train be x. Also assume the time taken by the train when it is never late is t.
In the first case: the train gets late by 11 min i.e., 11/60 h.
t+(11/60) = x/40
In the second case the train gets late by 5 min i.e., 5/60 h.
t+5=x/50
Now subtract 2 eq from 1 eq,
(11/60) - (6/60) = x/40 - x/50
Solving we find, x=20km
