Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

speed of train - x

distance=480km

if speed was 8k/m slower= x-8

time=3hrs

speed=distance/time

 time=distance/speed

atq-

480/x - 480/x-8x = 3

3840/x²-8x = 3

3x² - 24x = 3840

x² - 8x - 1280 = 0

x²- 40x - 32x - 1280 =0

x(x-40) -32(x-40)=0

(x-40)(x-32)=0

x=40 or x= 32

speed of train will be 40k/m or 32k/m.
