If a tuning fork of frequency (f) 340 hz and tolerance 1% is used in resonance column med [v = 2(2- . The first and the second resonance are measured at 24.0 cm and 2 19.0 cm find max. Permissible error in speed of sound. (a) 1.5% (b) 1.3%

Answer:

The answer will be 5%

Explanation:

According to the problem the frequency is denoted as f  and the tolerance of it is 1&

Now the resonance method is given[ seem to be incomplete, here it is just assumed]

v = 2f(l1-l2) [ where l2 is second resonance , l1 is the first resonance]

  = 2 x 340 x(0.24-0.19) =  34 m/s

now the max error,

Δv/v = Δf/f +Δl/l

      = 1/100 + Δl1+Δl2/l1-l2

       = 1/100 + 0.1+0.1/ (24-19)

      = 0.05

     = 5 %

Therefore, the maximum error in speed  is 5 %
