A U B =( read as ) A union B

U = Union

Let A and B be two given sets. Then the set of all elements of set A and B is called Union of two sets. It is read as 'A union B' and written as A U B

A U B ={x | € A or x € B}

EX 1)

A = { -1 , -3 , -5 , 0 }

B = {0 , 3 , 5}

A U B = { -3 , -5, 0 , -1 , 3 , 5}

Note that , A U B = B U A

Remember this pls

(1) = A U B = B U A

(2)= if A C B then A U B

---

(3)= A U A = A

(4)= A U A' = U

hope this will help you .

Answer:

ANSWER

let x∈A then x∈A∪B

since , A∪B=A∩B

x∈A∩B

So, x∈B

i.e., if an element belongs to set A, then it must belong to set B also.

∴A⊂B.....(i)

Similarly, if y∈B then, y∈A∪B

Since A∪B=A∩B

y∈A∩B

So, y∈A

∴ if y∈B

then y∈A

A⊂A.....(ii)

from (i) and (ii)

A⊂B and B⊂A

thus A=B
