Answer:

√17

Explanation:

Given that:

The addition of a and b vector = 6 i+j

The subtraction of a and b vector = -4 i+7 j

Thus,

a + b = 6 i+j

a - b = -4 i+7 j

Adding both the equation as:

2a = 6 i+j + (-4 i+7 j ) = 2 i + 8 j

Thus, vector a is  i + 4 j .

The magnitude of the vector is \sqrt {1^2+4^2}=\sqrt {17}

The magnitude of the vector a = √17
