The air pressure inside a jet plane is much higher than the air pressure outside. If any window of the plane breaks, then there will be a sudden drop in the pressure inside the plane i.e., explosive decompression due to which air cannot safely come out of the lungs. As a result, lungs can be injured. Due to explosive decompression, very little air pressure remains inside the plane, so one cannot breathe without an oxygen mask.
