A magnetic field is a vector field that describes the magnetic influence of electric charges in relative motion and magnetized materials. The effects of magnetic fields are commonly seen in permanent magnets, which pull on magnetic materials (such as iron) and attract or repel other magnets.

Given that,

The current is in the downward direction.

Suppose, The magnetic field is directed northward and we need to find the direction of force.

Fleming's left hand rule :

According to fleming's left hand rule, The thumb shows the direction of force.

The fore finger shows the direction of magnetic field.

The middle finger shows the direction of current .

So, The current in the wire is downward and magnetic field is directed northward then the direction of force on the wire is eastward.

Hence, The direction of force is eastward.
