If a wire touches the positive terminal of a battery, does it get charged

When a wire touches any of the terminals , let it be positive or negative , it does not get charged. Charging is a different process . Only when the circuit is made , a wire touching positive and negative ,both the terminals then only the wire gets charges and current in it .
