Consider the equation

ax = b

⇒ axyz = byz      [ raising to the power yz on both sides ] 

⇒  axyz = (by)z

⇒ axyz = cz         [ ∵ by = c ]

⇒  axyz = cz

⇒  axyz = a         [ ∵ cz = a ]

⇒  axyz = a1

⇒  xyz = 1
