if a^x =b^y and b^x= a^y, prove that a=b

I got saw two ways of solving this problem,…….

(i) First we have to prove that x=y,

it can be done by equating and solving half of two equations which is (a^x=a^y)

then x=y

which can be later used to prove a=b as b^y=b^x or a^y=a^x

(ii)Secondly By direct equating to get the answer at the first step, by solving the a^x=b^x, but there is a problem in resolving it……

its because even-though ‘a’ not equals ‘b’ , a^x=b^x can still be equal, if x=0
