SOLUTION

GIVEN

A₁ and A₂ are 2 A.M.'s between 20 and 80

TO DETERMINE

The value of A₁ + A₂

EVALUATION

Here it is given that A₁ and A₂ are 2 A.M.'s between 20 and 80

So 20 , A₁ , A₂ , 80 forms an arithmetic progression

Let Common Difference = d

First term = a = 20

Then 4 th term = 80

⇒20 + 3d = 80

⇒3d = 60

⇒ d = 20

A₁ = 2nd term = a + d = 20 + 20 = 40

A₂ = 3rd term = a + 2d = 20 + 40 = 60

Thus A₁ + A₂ = 40 + 60 = 100

FINAL ANSWER

A₁ + A₂ = 100
