first we solve ,

a ^ 2 - 3a + 1 = 0

a^2 = 3a - 1


and now ,

( I ) a ^2 + 1 / a^2

PUT THE VALUE OF a^2 in equation.

= ( 3a - 1 ) + 1 / ( 3a - 1 )

= 3a - 1 + 1 / 3a - 1/1

= 3A - 1 + 1 / 3a - 0

= 3a + 1 / 3a


And now ( ii )

a ^3 + 1 / a^3
