Step-by-step explanation:

a2 + b2 = 13 and ab = 6

(i) (a + b)2 = a2 + b2 + 2ab = 13 + 2×6 = 25

=> a + b = 5

(ii) (a - b)2 = a2 + b2 - 2ab = 13 - 2×6 = 1

=> a - b = 1

(iii) a2- b2 = (a + b)(a - b) = 5×1 = 5 [from (i) and (ii)]

(iv) 3(a + b)2 -2(a - b)2 = 3×25 - 2×1 = 73 [from (i) and (ii)]
