If AB=5 cm, BP=2 cm and AP=3.4 cm

AB > AP >  BP

While comparing the segments we will compare the length of below mentioned different segments

AB=5 cm,

BP=2 cm

AP=3.4 cm

as we know that

5 > 3.4 > 2

this means that

AB > AP >  BP

Also, we know that

2 + 3.4 ≠ 5

this means

BP + AP ≠ AB

so given points are not co-linear

and these points can be vertices of a triangle...
