In ΔABC, ∠BAC + ∠ACB + ∠ABC = 180° (Sum of the interior angles )

                40° + 65° + ∠ABC = 180°

                 ∠ABC =180° - 105°

                  ∠ABC = 75°

Since AB ║CD and BC is the transversal,

    ∠DCF = ∠ABF = 75°(pair of corresponding angles on the same side of the transversal are equal.

Now since DE║BF and CD is the transversal, the pair of interior angles on the same side of the transversal is complementary.

that is, ∠CDE + ∠DCF =180°

           y + 75° =180°

            y = 180° - 75°

∴ y = 105°
