Given :   n(A ∩ B)  =  18   , n(A) = 18  , n(B) = 40

To Find :  n( A ∪ B)

Solution:

n( A ∪ B)   =  n(A)  +  n(B)  -  n(A  ∩ B)

n(A) =  18

, n(B) = 40

n(A ∩ B)  =  18

=> n( A ∪ B)   =  18   + 40 - 18

=>  n( A ∪ B)   =  40
