Since , median of a ∆ meets the side at is mid point

Mid point of BC = ( (x1 + X2 )/2 , (y1 + y2 )/2 ) =( (2+8)/2 , ( 7+1) /2 )= (5,4)

Therefore pt. D = (5,4)

Using distance formula ,

AD = √((X2 - x1 )² + (y2 - y2)² )

= √(-2-5)² + (4-6)² = √ ( 49 + 4 ) = √53 units ( Ans. )
