Given:

  • α , β are the zeroes of a polynomial.
  • The polynomial is 3x²-7x-6.

To Find:

  • The values of x.

Answer:

Given that α , β are the zeroes of a polynomial 3x²-7x-6.

And we are asked to Find possible values of x .

The given polynomial is a quadratic polynomial .So it will have two zeroes .

We would equate the given polynomial with 0 in order to find out the two zeroes.

Let's equate :

⇒ 3x² - 7x - 6 = 0.

⇒ 3x² + 9x - 2x - 6 = 0.

⇒ 3x( x + 3) -2( x + 3) = 0.

⇒ (3x - 2) ( x + 3 ) = 0.

⇒ x = ⅔ , (-3).

Hence the values of x are and -3.

What do we mean by zeroes ?

Zeroes of a polynomial simply means the value of variable for which the whole polynomial will become zero is called zero of a polynomial.

Total number of zeroes of polynomial is equal to the degree of polynomial. Zeroes may be complex or real.
