If alga and beta are the zeros of the polynomial f (x)= x x square - 6 X + k find the value of k such that Alpha square + b square is equal to 40

Given f (x) = x² - 6x + k
Also, α² + β² = 40
=> (α+β)² - 2αβ = 40
We know,
α+β = 6
αβ = k
=> 6² - 2k = 40
2k = 36-40=-4
k = -4/2 = -2
