If all objects would reflect light then this means that  no object would ever absorb light.

Lets create a virtual World where every object only reflects light.

The problems would be:

  • There will be no transparent medium. For example water only refracts light. But since in our virtual World no object can ever refract light, even water would reflect light. Hence the colour of water would not be colourless. Yes no object can be colourless
  • As discussed no objects will be colourless. Well forget about that.Think of this : If our retina starts reflecting light , then we cannot view any objects. Normally in our eye, we can view any object because the optic nerve absorbs photons and converts it to nerve impulses. But here there will be no such conversion as the optic nerve won't absorb light.
  • Next notice that most of the Sun's rays are absorbed by the Atmosphere. Some part of it is refracted and some is reflected. This way the Atmosphere is warm. Now in Our virtual world there will be nothing except reflection. This will make the temperature of the atmosphere  very low . Surprised ! The temperature which we experience on Earth is all due to the absorption of Sun's heat energy.Since there is no absorption so the temperature of the Earth will sharply fall
  • If all objects reflect light , there will be dazzling effect produced because every ray of light will be reflected, There is no scope of absorption and refraction.
  • Clouds will be dark black. No refraction so they would reflect all the light which falls on them.

There would be many other problems. There would be shadows behind every body. Every body will act like an opaque body.

We would be like blind because there is no absorption of the light rays .Hence brain cannot interpret the images produced on the retina. Actually no images will be formed on retina. For an image to form you need a screen to absorb the light. There is no absorption of light in Our World.

Hope it helps you

If all the objects around us were to reflect light in a regular way then the problems that we might face is that there would be no transparent object ( object through which the light can pass E.g: glass ) present in the world .
