Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

p(x) = 2x^2 -x - 6

a = 2

b = -1

c = -6

product = 2(-6) = -12

sum = -1 (-4,3)

2x^2 - 4x + 3x - 6

2x(x-2)+3(x-2)

(2x+3)(x-2)

2x+3 = 0                 x-2 = 0

x= -3/2 =  α                  x = 2 =β

so 1/α = -2/3

and 1/β = 1/2

now

1/α + 1/β

= -2/3 + 1/2

= (-4+3)/6

ans= -1/6
