If alpha and beta are the zeros of the p(x) = x² -6x + k then find k if alpha² + beta² =40

Alfa² + Beta² = (Alfa + Beta)² -2 Alfa ×

Beta

=>

Alfa + Beta = 6 And Alfa × Beta = k

=>

40 = (6)² -2k

=>

2k = -4

k = -2
