If alpha and beta are the zeros of the quadratic polynomial f(x) = x^2 + x -2 , find the value of 1 / alpha - 1 / beta. α+β=(-ba)=-1andαβ=(ca)=-2. ⇒β-α=3. ∴(1α-1β)=(β-α)αβ=3-2=-32.
