There's a mistake in the question. Alpha + beta =-b/a.

ax² - bx + c

α + β = -(-b)/a————> 1
α β = c/ a ——————> 2

⇒ β = c/ a × 1/α
⇒ β = c/ aα

SUBSTITUTE IN 1

α + c/ aα = b / a
⇒ aα + c = b ————-> 3
⇒ α = ( b-c)/ a

Now , β = c/ (b-c)
