Step-by-step explanation:

Given, quadratic equation is x^2+2x+1=0

 \alpha  +  \beta  =  -  \frac{b}{a}  =  -  \frac{2}{1}  =  - 2

 \alpha  \times   \beta  =  \frac{c}{a}  =  \frac{1}{1}  = 1

 \frac{1}{ \alpha }  +  \frac{1}{ \beta }

 =  \frac{  \beta  +  \alpha }{ \alpha  \beta }

 =  \frac{ \alpha  +  \beta }{ \alpha  \beta }

 =  \frac{ - 2}{1}

 =  - 2
