If alpha beta are zeros of a quadratic polynomial ax^2+NC+c=0 then evaluate alpha/beta+beta/alpha

If alpha,beta are roots of a quadratic equation

ax² + bx + c = 0, then

alpha + beta = -b/a

alpha × beta = c/a

Therefore,

= alpha² + beta²

= (alpha + beta)² - 2 × alpha × beta

= (-b/a)² - 2 × c/a

= b²/a² - 2c/a

= (b² - 2ac)/a²
