Given eqation ,
3x² + 5x - 2 = 0
And the roots of the equation are α and β
To find ,
The value of : 1 / α + 1 / β
Now ,
3x² + 5x - 2 = 0 → Compared with ax² + bx + c = 0 , then we get ,
a = 3
b = 5
c = - 2
Now ,
• Sum of the zeros ( α + β )
= - b / a
= - 5 / 3
• Product of the zeros ( αβ )
= c / a
= - 2 / 3
Now ,
1 / α + 1 / β
= ( α + β ) / αβ
= ( - 5 / 3 ) / ( - 2 / 3 )
[ • Putting the values ]
= 5 / 3 × 3 / 2
= 5 / 2 [ ★ Required answer ]
