(Option d) Loudness is the degree to which sound can be perceived by us. The range of sound is quite to loud.

The loudness of a sound is directly proportional to the square of the amplitude.

Loudness ∝ (amplitude)²

Let amplitude of sound be x.

Here the amplitude is 4 times x = 4x

Loudness ∝ (4x)²

Loudness ∝ 16x²

Hence if the amplitude is four times increased then loudness increases by 16 times.
