The value of x and y

EVALUATION

Here it is given that 3, x , y , 15/2 are in AP

Here 15/2 = 7.5

So 3, x , y , 7.5 are in AP

First term = a = 3

Let Common Difference = d

Second Term = x = 3 + d

Third term = y = 3 + 2d

Fourth term = 7.5 = 3 + 3d

3 + 3d = 7.5 gives

3d = 7.5 - 3

$\sf{ \implies \: 3d =4.5 }$

$\sf{ \implies \: d =1.5 }$

So x = 3 + 1.5 = 4.5

y = 4.5 + 1.5 = 6

FINAL ANSWER

Hence the required value x = 4.5 , y = 6
