if an element has atomic no. 6, then the electronic configuration of that element would be (2,4) which is carbon
if an element has atomic no. 8, then the electronic configuration of that element would be (2,6) which is oxygen.
when these two elements react, the form covalent bond. forming carbon dioxide (CO₂).
A solution of carbon dioxide is slightly acidic but carbon dioxide by itself is not an acid. The reason why it is slightly acidic in solutions is because it can (no matter how weak) establish an equilibrium with water to give hydrogen ionsCO2(g)+H2O(l)⇌H+(aq)+HCO3−(aq)
