atomic number = 12

atomic number = 12thus electronic configuration of element = 2, 8, 2

atomic number = 12thus electronic configuration of element = 2, 8, 2 therefore it's valency is 2 and it belongs to group metals...

Answer:

I want say before my answer please read till end to understand the concept properly.

If the atom which has an atomic number 12 then it is magnesium.

then it's valency by 2n² rule is

in fist row 2

in second row 8

in third row 2.

so it is better to lose 2 electrons than collecting more 6 electrons.

and if it lose 2 electrons then the number of protons will increase then the valency is +2.

I hope you got your answer and understood that.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to answer your question.
