if an examination one required 40% marks to pass Rahul gets 185 marks and failed by 15 marks find the maximum marks

★ Let the maximum marks be x

GIVEN THAT,

40% marks required to pass

=> Marks required = 40% of x


 =  \frac{40}{100}  \times x \\  \\  =  \frac{2x}{5}

Also given that,

Rahul gets 185 marks which is 15 marks less than the passing marks


 =  >  \frac{2x}{5}  - 15 = 185 \\  \\  =  >  \frac{2x}{5}  = 185 + 15 \\  \\  =  > 2x = 200 \times 5 \\  \\  =  > x = 100 \times 5 \\  \\  =  > x = 500

HENCE,

Maximum marks of the examination is 500.
