(C) Solid - Liquid - Gas is the correct option.

The state of the ice cube changes from solid to liquid and then to gas. This happens for the following reasons:

  • The ice cube absorbs heat from its surroundings changing its state from solid to liquid i.e, water. Water upon cooling changes to ice in a process called freezing and when left in a room ice gains heat and changes its state from solid to a liquid. This process is called melting.
  • When this water is further heated beyond its boiling point it changes its state to gas i.e, water vapor. This process where the state of a substance changes from liquid to gas is called evaporation.
