Answer:

“ab” terminal is open so there won't be any current flow through that branch. And the voltage V0 will be 12–8=4V.

Since the dependent voltage source has the same value as Vo,the voltage across ab will be 8V–4V=4V.

If my basics and math is right I guess this will be the answer.
