If an integer is divided by its additive inverse, the result will be -1.

  • In algebra, for every real number, there exists its additive inverse. An additive inverse of a real number is a number such that if we add that real number with that additive inverse, the result will be 0.
  • Let a real number be x. Then the additive inverse of x is denoted by -x.
  • If we divide the number x by its additive inverse -x, the result will be \frac{x}{-x} =(-1)*\frac{x}{x} =-1 (provided that x\neq 0 ).
