If an object is placed 10 cm from a convex mirror of radius of curvature 60 cm, then find the position of image.

Given, object distance, u = –10cm

Radius of curvature, R = 60 cm

∴ Focal length,

f = R/2 =  \frac{60}{2} = 30 \: cm

∵ By mirror formula,

 \frac{1}{v} +  \frac{1}{u} =  \frac{1}{f}

 \frac{1}{v} =\frac{1}{f} - \frac{1}{u} =  \frac{1}{30} - (- \frac {1}{10}) =  \frac{4}{30}

v = 7.5 \: cm
