We know:-

In a plane mirror, the distance between the object and mirror is equal to the distance between the image and the mirror. The image is formed at the same distance as that of object distance.

Then:-

Dis. between the object and mirror (given) = 0.5 m. That means, Dis. between image and mirror is too 0.5 m.

The distance between the object and the image formed by the mirror will be 0.5 m + 0.5 m = 1 m (Ans)

Some other properties of image formation in plane mirror:

  • The image is virtual and erect.
  • It is laterally inverted.
  • The height of the image is same as the height of the object.
  • Multiple images can be formed when two triangles are inclined at a certain angle Θ.
