Given :-

⟶Object distance,u = 12cm

⟶Focal length,f = 8cm

⟶Object height, h = 7cm

To find :-

⟶The position , image distance and nature of image

Formula required :-

⟶\boxed{\sf  \frac{1}{f}  =  \frac{1}{v} -   \frac{1}{u} }

Solution :-

using lens formula,

\tt ⟹ \frac{1}{f}  =  \frac{1}{v} -   \frac{1}{u}  \:  \:  \: \\ \\ \tt ⟹  \frac{1}{8}  =  \frac{1}{v}  -  \frac{1}{12} \:   \\ \\ \tt ⟹  \frac{1}{v}  =  \frac{3 - 2}{24}   \:  \:  \:  \: \\ \\ \tt  ⟹  \frac{1}{v }  =  \frac{1}{24}  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:

\boxed{\sf V = 24cm}

 \tt ⟹ m =  \frac{h'}{h}  =  \frac{v}{u}  \\ \\ \tt ⟹  \frac{ - 24}{12}  =  \frac{h'}{7}  \:  \:  \:  \:  \\ \\ \tt ⟹ h' =  - 2 \times 7

\boxed{\sf h' = -14cm}

Hence, image height = -14cm and image distance = 24cm
