If an object of mass 5 kg dropped from height 5m above the ground, prove that mechanical
energy is conserved-
(i) Immediate after the particle is dropped.
(ii) Midpoint of total height.
(iii) Finally when particles hit the ground. (g = 10 m/s 2 ).

Explanation:

Mass=5kg

Height=5m

Let g=10ms−2

Potential energy stored in a body of mass m and height h will be given by

=m×g×h

=5kg×10ms−2×5m

=250J

When the mass falls completely, same potential energy is lost =250J
